I have a dilemma and I need your advice. The owner of a “small business” that I occasionally purchase from decided to go on an anti-Catholic rant on Facebook.
“The Vatican/Catholics are working with a communist regime and willingly abandon their own priests to persecution and most likely, DEATH.
I denounce the Catholic church. I do not care if I was raised in it. Between the siding with pedos AND NOW siding with the Cee Cee Pee, I am DONE with these snakes.
They are happily working WITH the very people holding their OWN PRIESTS in prisons. The Vatican is satanic. I won't back down on this.”
My dilemma? Do I continue to purchase from this business? As a Catholic, the words stung deep. People are entitled to their opinion and I’m not one to jump on the cancel culture bandwagon. Though I don’t always agree with this person, I enjoyed their FB posts and videos. And their products. I was happy with what I ordered.
So I’m asking for your advice: Do I overlook these comments and continue to support this business and engage in their videos and FB posts? Or do I quietly unfollow and purchase the products elsewhere?
Although he is entitled to his opinion, you are too. If it bothers you that much, boycotting his business and FB is only right. Would confronting him change his stance? Probably not. Good luck.
If you care about the owner perhaps a quiet conversation might help. It sounds like he was impacted personally by something and is lashing out in anger. If he won't talk to you calmly and rationally then tell him that you cannot, in good conscience, continue to trade with him. On the other hand if he provides a good or service at a price that you cannot get from another vendor the disregard his personal issues and continue trading with him. Pray on the matter.
